Kanchanjangha Tea Estate and Research Center Pvt. Ltd. (KTERC). KTERC is the first certified organic tea garden in Nepal that was established in 1984 by Mr. Deepak Prakash Baskota to rid his community of poverty. It remains a model social enterprise still today, that runs on cooperative infrastructure and is truly focused on the people and planet before profit.
The base tea used in this Nepal chai tea blend is Kumari Gold and Kanchanjangha Noir, please refer to their production for the actual black tea manufacturing process. All of the other ingredients are also produced in Nepal and in our own farm by our local farmers.
The inspiration for this organic chai tea blend came from not being satisfied by the traditional commercially available masala chai tea. One problem with loose leaf chai tea in general is that most of them are mixed with a lot of aromatic herbs and spices that really overpower the real flavors of tea. Furthermore, the base tea used in chai tea is generally never the high quality ones. We ventured to change that. We used our two best high quality teas and created an organic chai tea that is unlike any other. Kathmandu Cosmos really shows our culinary creativity as we’ve successfully blended tea with highly citric ingredients in such a way that does not overpower the tea flavors, but brings out a very well balanced chai-like smooth brew.
This organic chai tea is for anyone who loves or hates masala chai. It does have the chai characteristics, however, the floral and citrus flavors make it unlike any chai that is out there. Lovers of Teavana chai blends such as Maharaja Chai would really appreciate this blend.

Thank you very much for the beautiful Kathmandu Cosmos tea! It was a blessing during this time.
The first thing I notice is the actual tea to lemongrass ratio. There is certainly a lot. I like the idea of lemongrass in chai, though. It smells heavenly, spiced, and clean. There is also a considerable amount of citrus peel and coriander seed. As it steeps, the aroma reminds me of the citronella candles my mom used to keep the mosquitoes away. I used to smell those all the time on the back porch as a kid. So sweet and fresh. This tea could serve as aromatherapy, I swear.
The flavor is so comforting. Lemony with that well-rounded spice I've come to love from Nepal Tea. The spice especially comes through on the exhale. While I think a lot of the ingredients are muted by the lemongrass and peel, I can still taste (and rather feel) ginger, too. This is a masterpiece of a chai, much like their Nepali Breakfast. I'm probably going to end up trying every tea this company makes.
This tea is excellent. It is very aromatic and has a sweet clove-like taste. My son and I both enjoyed it.
The tea is not lost in the spices. I don't add milk or sugar to my tea and Indian chai is too strong for me to enjoy without those traditional additions. Kathmandu Cosmos has the right spice with the delicious addition or orange peel. This tea is a favorite and absolutely perfect on its own. Highly recommend!
