First tasted Kumari Gold at an out of town cafe and was instantly impressed by the tea and ethic of the company. Just got my first(very speedy) package of tea leaves and it is even better than remembered.
I backed a kickstarter project from this company and this tea is just a joy to drink. The smell of it is lovely and it reminds me of spring. The taste is so smooth on the tastebuds~
I can't say that I've ever tried gold tea before trying Kumari Gold, but I sure am glad I did! This is one of the best teas I have ever had and I find myself regularly going back to choose this for my cuppa. The flavor profile is spot on - this is a full bodied black tea that brews golden with wonderful caramel and fruit flavors. It is simply divine! This is one of several Nepal Teas that I absolutely must keep on hand in my tea collection at all times. Give it a try, you will be happy you did!
I bought 50 grams of this tea at the Midwest Tea Festival in Kansas City and had an interesting discussion with Nishchal Banskota, the founder of this company. Clearly he knows teas! Over the years I've enjoyed some very fine teas and this Kumari Gold is one of the best in my opinion. It is better than the majority of second flush Darjeeling's I've enjoyed and the finer China Yunnan's. The tea brews to a beautiful golden color and is full bodied, yet very smooth and flavorful with no bitterness or after taste, but rather a pleasant slightly fruity and earthy taste that lingers in your mouth. It is one of the few teas I drink without adding any sweetener - usually I add a small amount to most teas. This tea definitely stands on it's own. This will be one of 5-6 teas I will always keep on hand.
I really love this tea. It brews to a nice golden brown color. It is a medium to full bodied flavor with a smooth finish. It has a slightly earthy taste that is great in the morning and the tea is light enough for afternoon. There was no hint of bitterness. I would not recommend milk or sweeteners with this tea (of course I'm normally a purist, so I rarely add anything to my tea). When the leaves unfurl, they reveal beautiful long and slender leaves. It reminds me of a good quality Yunnan tea.
